Conference "Text and/as image in early modern polyglot books"

Présentation

[FR] Ce colloque, fruit d'une collaboration entre le réseau EMoDiCon (Early Modern Didactic texts across Continents) et le projet "Traduction et polyglossie dans l'Angleterre de la première modernité", s'intéressera aux éléments visuels qui accompagnent la coprésence de plusieurs langues dans les textes didactiques de la première modernité. Les communications exploreront la façon dont les images pouvaient faciliter la communication translinguistique et l'apprentissage des langues d'un continent à l'autre pendant la première modernité. Le colloque est soutenu par le laboratoire IMAGER.

[ENG] This conference, a collaboration between the EMoDiCon project and the Translation and Polyglossia in Early Modern England project, will focus on the visual element in the co-presence of several languages in early modern didactic texts. The papers will address the following issue: what part did images play in facilitating translingual communication and language learning across continents in the early modern age?
